and also exported all my contacts.

Brian, don’t know you, but got the e-mail… I actually do computer security for a living, send me an e-mail, I can get you in touch with a few folks that may be able to help. If you called the police ,it’s one step, however, contacting Google’s security group as well as your local FBI field office’s computer crime division may help.
If you have personally identifiable information contained in the account, it would best to let your credit card companies know, banks, as well as anything you pay bills for or withdrawl money from. It’d also be a better bet to also contact credit reporting agencies and note the time and date that this ocurred and to put a credit alert out for yourself through them (credit monitoring). it may cost a bit, but it’ll cost less than having a lot more stolen from you. You may, if you still have the info (besides posting here on your blog) to share the same information with some of your major contacts (that your account was hacked, and that e-mail is no longer a trusted source/origin of contact for you).

Google describes how to provide them the necessary information so they can reactivate your account. I sent them a message that the account had been hacked so they could (hopefully) disable it from the hacker, so with luck, they’ve locked it down.
